The Jurassic World 3 cast is growing quickly with the addition of DeWanda Wise and Mamoudou Athie, according to Variety. While it’s unknown who they are playing, they are said to have landed leading roles.
They join a Jurassic World 3 cast that includes the returning Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, as well as Jurassic Park stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum reprising their roles as Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Dr. Ian Malcolm.
DeWanda Wise is best known for her Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It, while Mamoudou Athie’s credits include The Front Runner, Uncorked, Patti Cake$ and Sorry for Your Loss.
Colin Trevorrow is returning to direct the third chapter in Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s Jurassic World saga. Steven Spielberg and Trevorrow return to executive produce. Producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley once again partner with Spielberg and Trevorrow for this installment.
Joining the Jurassic team is Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising, The Black Hole), who has co-written the Jurassic World 3 screenplay with Trevorrow. They worked from a story by Derek Connolly and Trevorrow, who together co-wrote Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Trevorrow directed 2015’s Jurassic World, which went on to gross $1.67 billion worldwide and is the sixth-highest-grossing film in cinema history. Trevorrow will also continue to consult with Spielberg and Marshall on the management of the growing Jurassic brand, including video games, toys, novels, animated LEGO shorts and theme parks.
The Jurassic franchise has grossed more than $5 billion collectively at the worldwide box office. Jurassic World 3 will cause a global impact tremor in theaters on June 11, 2021.
