Following the film’s panel at the New York Comic Con, Disney’s 20th Century Fox has brought online the Free Guy poster and a funny clip in which cast members Ryan Reynolds and Taiki Waititi try to convince Jodie Comer and Joe Keery that they weren’t in Green Lantern.
Directed by Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum films, Real Steel), Free Guy stars Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Lil Rel (Get Out), Joe Keery (Stranger Things), Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), and Utkarsh Ambudkar.
In Free Guy, a bank teller (Ryan Reynolds) stuck in his routine discovers he’s a background character in a rather brutal open world, action-adventure video game and he is the only one capable of saving his world. He’ll get the help of an avatar, played by Comer, whose name is Molotov Girl. In the real world, she is a mousy programmer who actually created the game but was devastated when it was stolen from her.
Rel is Reynolds’ best friend and fellow Non-Playable Character (NPC) who doesn’t believe his friend’s seemingly outlandish claims. Keery is a programmer who may or may not have a secret agenda.
Written by Matt Lieberman, the film is executive produced by George Dewey. Mike Ireland is overseeing for 20th Century Fox. Berlanti Productions’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter are producing alongside Reynolds’ Maximum Effort, Levy’s 21 Laps, and Adam Kolbrenner. George Dewey is executive producing.
