Universal Dates Bob Odenkirk Thriller Nobody for August 2020

Universal Pictures has set the release date for Nobody, an upcoming thriller starring Emmy winner Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), who will also produce. The film will open in theaters on Friday, August 14, 2020. The other movies scheduled for that date include Sony’s Escape Room 2, Disney’s The One and Only Ivan, and MGM’s Respect.

Odenkirk plays Hutch Mansell, who is the guy you don’t notice. A suburban dad, overlooked husband, nothing neighbor. A nobody. When two thieves break into his home one night, the incident ignites Hutch’s unknown long-simmering rage, propelling him on a brutal path that will uncover dark secrets he fought to leave behind.

Nobody is produced by Kelly McCormick (Atomic Blonde, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and Deadpool 2) and David Leitch (filmmaker behind Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde and John Wick co-director) for their company 87North, Emmy winner Bob Odenkirk, Marc Provissiero (Hulu’s PEN15) for Odenkirk Provissiero Entertainment, and Braden Aftergood (Hell or High Water and Wind River) for his Eighty Two Films.

The film is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ilya Naishuller, the writer-director-producer of Hardcore Henry, from a script by writer Derek Kolstad, narrative architect of the John Wick franchise.

In other release date news, Sony Pictures has also pushed back the release date for Peter Rabbit 2 from February 7, 2020 to April 3, 2020. The other movies on that new date are Sony’s Fatherhood, Paramount’s The Love Birds, and Disney/Fox’s The New Mutants. A little movie called No Time to Die will also open five days later, on April 8th. The first Peter Rabbit film earned an impressive $351.3 million worldwide in 2018.
