Solstice Studios announced today that the Unhinged release date has been set for August 28, 2020. The only other film scheduled for that date is the Paramount Pictures thriller Spell.
The psychological thriller stars Academy Award winner Russell Crowe, Caren Pistorius, Gabriel Bateman and Jimmi Simpson.
The film takes an ordinary, everyday incident to its most terrifying conclusion in telling the story of Rachel (Pistorius), a mother who leans on her horn at the wrong time, to the wrong guy (Crowe). Road rage doesn’t begin to describe what he is about to do to her and everyone she knows.
Unhinged is directed by Derrick Borte (American Dreamer), written by Carl Ellsworth (Disturbia, Red Eye) and produced by Lisa Ellzey (Warrior, Kingdom of Heaven).
Director Derrick Borte said previously: “The mark of a great film is one that both entertains and sparks conversation. I believe, in a very terrifying way, Unhinged does exactly that.
Unhinged marks Solstice Studios’ first production since launching last October. The company develops, fully finances, produces, sells internationally and distributes feature films in the U.S. on a wide-release basis. Solstice plans to produce three to five movies per year for a global audience – generally in the $20-80 million budget range. It also plans to co-finance or acquire another two to three films per year for wide US distribution. The company has a partnership with Ingenious Media.
