Downey Jr. May Return for Black Widow and an Iron Man Deleted Scene

-

While reporting on the Saturn Awards, Deadline dropped an interesting rumor about Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man. We all thought we had seen the last of him in Avengers: Endgame, but the site says: “Downey will be seen in the role of Stark one more time, however, in the Marvel prequel Black Widow in May 2020.”

Before you get too excited, though, Marvel Stuff claims the footage will come from a deleted scene from Captain America: Civil War that Marvel Studios is reusing and not something new Downey shot for the movie. According to them, Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark tells Natasha Romanoff to run away in the scene.

Speaking of deleted scenes, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige at the Saturn Awards revealed an alternate version of the post-credits scene from Iron Man in which Nick Fury mentions mutants and radioactive bug bites. The scene will be included in an “Infinity Saga” box set coming this year still.

Black Widow is opening in theaters on May 1, 2020 and is the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is directed by Cate Shortland and stars Scarlett Johansson, reprising her role of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, as well as newcomers to the MCU David Harbour as Alexei the Red Guardian, Florence Pugh as Yelena, O-T Fagbenle as Mason, and Rachel Weisz as Melina.

It’s been previously said that Black Widow will be an internationally-set story centering on Natasha Romanoff, a spy and assassin who grew up being trained by the KGB before breaking from their grasp and becoming an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Avenger.

Taskmaster concept art was revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con in July.
