Netflix has shared the first Daybreak photos ahead of the show’s panel at the New York Comic Con. You can view the Daybreak photos in the gallery below! The series, which will launch on the streaming service on Oct. 24, will be presented at NYCC on Friday, October 4 at 6:45 p.m. in Room 1A06.
The high school apocalypse dramedy stars Colin Ford, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Sophie Simnett, Austin Crute, Gregory Kasyan, Krysta Rodriguez, Cody Kearsley, Jeanté Godlock, and Matthew Broderick.
Based on the graphic novel by Brian Ralph, the subversive dark comedy Daybreak finds 17-year-old high school outcast Josh searching for his missing girlfriend Sam in post-apocalyptic Glendale, California. Joined by a ragtag group of misfits, including a pyromaniac 12-year-old Angelica and Josh’s former high school bully Wesley, now turned pacifist samurai, Josh tries to stay alive amongst the horde of Mad Max-style gangs (evil jocks, cheerleaders turned Amazon warriors), zombie-like creatures called Ghoulies, and everything else this brave new world throws at him.
Matthew Broderick will play the cheerful, upbeat principal Burr of Glendale High, who knows the name of every kid in school and their favorite character to play in Overwatch. In a hashtag-filled world of #metoo and #blacklivesmatter and #timesup, Burr is genuinely trying to be part of the solution: a good guy, an advocate and ally for all.
Aron Eli Coleite (Star Trek: Discovery), who is also involved with Locke & Key, is the showrunner and an executive producer of the 10-episode horror/comedy series. Brad Peyton and Jeff Fierson’s ASAP Entertainment (Rampage, Frontier) are also behind the show. Celeite also executive produces with Fierson and Peyton, who will direct as well.
