Edgar Wright has tweeted the first Last Night in Soho photo and revealed that filming has wrapped for the film. “That is a wrap on main unit photography on my next feature film, ‘Last Night in Soho’. Can’t wait for you all to see [Last Night in Soho] on a big screen near you, September 25th, 2020,” he said.
The Edgar Wright-directed, London-set psychological thriller stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie, Matt Smith, Michael Ajao, Synnøve Karlsen, Diana Rigg, Terence Stamp, and Rita Tushingham.
Edgar Wright and Penny Dreadful scribe Krysty Wilson-Cairns co-wrote the screenplay, produced by Nira Park, Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, and Wright.
Edgar Wright previously described the project as a psychological horror thriller set in London and starring a female lead. Citing Don’t Look Now and Roman Polanski’s Repulsion as influences, Edgar Wright’s said the film “is about the London I’ve existed in.” He added: “I realized I had never made a film about central London – specifically Soho, somewhere I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the last 25 years. With Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead you make movies about places you’ve lived in.”
Edgar Wright’s last film, Baby Driver, was a runaway success in 2017 with $226.9 million earned on a budget of just $34 million.
