There’s a late addition to the Fast & Furious 9 cast, but it’s a good one. Deadline is reporting that Michael Rooker (True Detective, Guardians of the Galaxy films, The Walking Dead) will play the role of Buddy in the highly-anticipated May 22, 2020 release.
Rooker joins a Fast & Furious 9 cast that includes Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Anna Sawai, John Cena, Charlize Theron, and Dame Helen Mirren.
Dan Casey wrote the screenplay from a story by Justin Lin. Diesel is producing through his One Race Films and Lin for Perfect Storm Entertainment.
Rooker has quite a slate coming up. He is starring in Sony Pictures and Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island, opening in theaters on February 28, 2020, as well as Paramount Pictures’ Monster Problems, coming on March 6, 2020. He is also in Amazon’s upcoming The Dark Tower pilot and reprises the role of Yondu for Marvel Studios’ animated What If…? series coming to Disney+.
The actor’s credits also include Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Sea of Love, Days of Thunder, JFK, Cliffhanger, and Mallrats.
Fast & Furious 9 is currently filming in locations such as London, Los Angeles, Thailand, and Tbilisi, Georgia.
