The cast of the new season includes Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Cody Fern, John Carroll Lynch, Leslie Grossman, and Matthew Morrison, as well as newcomers Angelica Ross (Pose), DeRon Horton (Dear White People), and Olympian Gus Kenworthy.

Sarah Paulson, who has appeared in all eight seasons of the series, will not appear in a significant role in 1984. Evan Peters, who has also appeared in all eight seasons, and Billy Eichner, who starred in Cult and Apocalypse, are not returning for 1984.
