Saw Release Date Moved Up to May 2020!

Previously set for October 23, 2020, Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures are moving up the Saw release date to May 15, 2020! The move comes after the companies were able to see early footage from the set of the film, which is currently shooting in Toronto. The new Saw release date will put it up against the animated Scooby-Doo movie (aka “Scoob”) from Warner Bros.

Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, Max Minghella, and Marisol Nichols lead the cast of the new untitled Saw film. Chris Rock plays a police detective investigating a series of grizzly crimes and Jackson portrays Rock’s father. Max Minghella plays William Schenk, Rock’s partner and Marisol Nichols is Capt. Angie Garza, Rock’s boss.

The film is produced by longtime Saw filmmakers Mark Burg and Oren Koules – who are back once again to shepherd this re-imagining, which is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who helmed three of the most successful films in the Saw franchise. The film itself is being described as “Saw on steroids.”

The film was developed as a “Saw experience” based on Chris Rock’s love of the franchise and written by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. The film is executive produced by Chris Rock, long-time Saw executive producer Daniel Heffner and the original creators of Saw, James Wan and Leigh Whannell.

The film will offer fans worldwide a new amped up level of deviously treacherous traps, clever clues and the edge-of-the-seat suspense they expect from the one of the world’s most terrifying horror franchises.
