Blofeld Returning for Bond 25 and a New Location Teased

-

Christoph Waltz‘s villain Blofeld, who first appeared in the last James Bond movie SPECTRE, will return for the upcoming Bond 25. The Guardian says that the actor was spotted at the studio where the film was being shot, and the casting has since been confirmed by Variety.

The character has previously been played by such actors as Donald Pleasance, Telly Savalas, and Max von Sydow in previous James Bond films.

In related news, the production’s official social channels posted a photo earlier today of another location where filming is taking place – Hammersmith Bridge on the River Thames in west London. Could be seeing a chase scene on the river?

In addition to London, the filming locations for Bond 25 also include Norway and Italy. The 007 production is based at Pinewood Studios in the UK.

EON and United Artists Releasing previously revealed that the cast includes Daniel Craig as 007, Ralph Fiennes as M, Rory Kinnear as Tanner, Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Léa Seydoux as Dr. Madeleine Swann, Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter, Dali Benssalah, Ana De Armas, Billy Magnussen, David Dencik, Lashana Lynch, and Rami Malek.

In the film, Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

Daniel Craig has played the secret agent in four films so far, including Casino Royale(2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), and SPECTRE (2015). He also made a guest appearance as Bond in the Danny Boyle-directed opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games, alongside Queen Elizabeth II.

Cary Joji Fukunaga is directing from a script by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, Scott Z. Burns with Fukunaga and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Metro Goldwyn Mayer will release the 25th James Bond feature film domestically through their United Artists Releasing banner on April 8, 2020; and through Universal Pictures International and Metro Goldwyn Mayer in the UK and internationally from April 3, 2020.
