Disney Parks has announced the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance opening dates for both Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. The ride will be opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando on December 5, 2019, which also marks Walt Disney’s birthday. The Rise of the Resistance opening at Disneyland Resort will then take place on January 17, 2020.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Guests will be recruited to join Rey and General Organa at a secret base. Along the way, they will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. With the help of some heroes of the Resistance, they break out and must escape the Star Destroyer, protect the secret base, and stay one step ahead of Kylo Ren.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at Disneyland Resort in California on May 31, 2019. It is scheduled to launch at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on August 29.
For phase one, visitors are able to live their own Star Wars story and take the controls of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, sample amazing galactic food and beverages, explore an intriguing collection of merchant shops and more.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will mark the beginning of phase two for both parks.
