The baddest mother of film is about to become the baddest dad of horror as Samuel L. Jackson is joining Chris Rock in the Saw cast. Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures have begun production on the still-untitled film.
Chris Rock will play a police detective investigating a series of grizzly crimes and Jackson will portray Rock’s father. Also joining the Saw cast will be Max Minghella, who will play William Schenk, Rock’s partner, and Marisol Nichols will play Capt. Angie Garza, Rock’s boss.
The film is produced by longtime Saw filmmakers Mark Burg and Oren Koules – who are back once again to shepherd this re-imagining, which is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who helmed three of the most successful films in the Saw franchise.
The film itself, being described as “a SAW experience,” was developed based on Chris Rock’s love of the franchise and written by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. The film will be executive produced by Chris Rock, long-time Saw executive producer Daniel Heffner and the original creators of Saw, James Wan and Leigh Whannell.
The film will offer fans worldwide a new amped up level of deviously treacherous traps, clever clues and the edge-of-the-seat suspense they expect from the one of the world’s most terrifying horror franchises.
“We think Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Rock along with Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols make this film completely special in the Saw canon and we can’t wait to unleash this unexpected and sinister new story on fans of this franchise. This is next level of Saw on full tilt,” said Joe Drake, Chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.
