Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren Return for Fast & Furious 9

-

Vin Diesel has revealed, in his latest video from the Fast & Furious 9 set in London, that both Charlize Theron and Dame Helen Mirren will be back for the May 22, 2020 release. Both actresses made their debut in 2017’s The Fate of the Furious. Theron played cyberterrorist Cipher, who coerces Diesel’s Dom Toretto into working for her, while Mirren appeared as Magdalene Shaw, the mother of Deckard (Jason Statham) and Owen Shaw (Luke Evans).

Mirren will also play the role in the upcoming spin-off, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, releasing in theaters on August 2, 2019.

In addition to Diesel, Theron and Mirren, the Fast & Furious 9 cast also includes Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, and newcomer John Cena.

Filming for the ninth installment began on June 24, 2019 in London. Justin Lin is directing both the ninth installment and the 10th film, which is coming to theaters on April 2, 2021.

Dan Casey wrote the screenplay from a story by Justin Lin. Diesel is producing through his One Race Films and Lin for Perfect Storm Entertainment.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw features Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs, Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw, and Idris Elba’s international terrorist leader and criminal mastermind, Brixton. David Leitch (Deadpool 2) directed the film, also starring Vanessa Kirby as an MI6 agent and Owen and Deckhard’s sister, Eiza González as Madam M, Eddie Marsan, and Ellie Nicole.
