Emile Hirsch Joins Mel Gibson in Force of Nature

Emile Hirsch (Into the WildThe Girl Next Door, the upcoming Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood) has been cast in the upcoming film Force of Nature, according to Deadline. The film from Oasis Films also stars Mel Gibson.

Hirsch will reportedly play a police officer who has to protect residents who were not evacuated from a building during a hurricane, “while violent criminals attempt to pull off a mysterious heist within the structure.” Gibson will play a retired detective who refuses to evacuate.

Force of Nature comes to us from Randall Emmett and George Furla, who worked with Emile Hirsch on the Peter Berg film Lone Survivor back in 2013. Hirsch will be seen on July 26 when Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood hits theaters. He plays the role of Jay Sebring.

The film will be directed by Michael Polish, who has also previously worked with producers Emmett and Furla. Bluebox International began the foreign sales at Cannes. Emmett, Furla and Luillo Ruiz will produce the film. Executive producing is Tim Sullivan and Alex Eckert. The film is still in the casting stage and is reportedly set to begin production on July 19 in Puerto Rico.
