Will Smith and Martin Lawrence wrapped Bad Boys for Life back in April, but we’re now getting a great look at the filming for the third installment. In Will Smith’s Bad Boys for Life video below, you can watch as the production goes from Atlanta to Miami. Filming for the January 17, 2020 release began in Atlanta, Georgia on January 6, 2019.
The third installment, which reunites Smith with Lawrence and Joe Pantoliano, also stars Vanessa Hudgens (Second Act, The Princess Switch), Alexander Ludwig (Vikings, The Hunger Games), Charles Melton (Riverdale), Jacob Scipio (Hunter Killer), Paola Nuñez (The Son), and DJ Khaled (All Star Weekend).
Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Bad Boys for Life (also known as “Bad Boys for Lif3”) centers on the Miami PD and its elite AMMO team’s attempt to take down Armando Armas (Scipio), head of a drug cartel. Armando is a cold-blooded killer with a vicious, taunting nature. He is committed to the work of the cartel and is dispatched by his mother to kill Mike (Smith). Nuñez will take on the role of Rite, the tough and funny criminal psychologist who is the newly appointed head of AMMO and Mike’s former girlfriend – and the one who got away.
Hudgens, Ludwig, and Melton play a modern, highly-specialized police unit that collides with the old school Bad Boys (Smith and Lawrence).
Jerry Bruckheimer is back again to produce the film with Doug Belgrad and Smith. Barry Waldman, Mike Stenson, Chad Oman, and James Lassiter are the executive producers. Sony Pictures will distribute the action comedy.
Bad Boys hit theaters in April 1995 and grossed $141.4 million worldwide, while Bad Boys II reached $273 million globally in 2003. Both those films were directed by Michael Bay.
