John Cena Adds More Muscle to Fast and Furious 9

-

Back in April, Vin Diesel hinted that John Cena might be joining the cast of Fast and Furious 9, and now we have confirmation. Deadline reports that the Blockers actor is officially on board the film, which starts production later this month.

The site adds that Cena’s character details are under wraps and the only word they are getting is that he’s playing “a badass,” which should come as no surprise.

Again directed by Justin Lin, Fast and Furious 9 has been set for a May 22, 2020 release. Lin is also directing the 10th installment, which is coming to theaters on April 2, 2021.

Dan Casey is writing the screenplay from a story by Justin Lin. Diesel is producing through his One Race Films and Lin for Perfect Storm Entertainment.

Here’s Vin Diesel’s original post featuring an appearance by Cena:

Before the next two Fast & Furious main saga films hit theaters, we’re getting the first spin-off, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, on August 2, 2019. The film features Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs, Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw, and Idris Elba’s international terrorist leader and criminal mastermind, Brixton. David Leitch (Deadpool 2) is directing the film, also starring Vanessa Kirby as an MI6 agent and Owen and Deckhard’s sister, Eiza González as Madam M, Eddie Marsan, and Ellie Nicole.
