Disney Parks today brought online a new video which shows the progress being made on the TRON attraction coming to the Magic Kingdom Park for Walt Disney World Resort‘s 50th anniversary in 2021. The TRON attraction is based on TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disneyland.
The ride will occupy an entirely new area next to Tomorrowland’s Space Mountain. The coaster-style attraction allows riders to board a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles for a thrilling race through the digital frontier.
While construction has been going on for some time, the video reveals that the first steel support columns have been installed. The steel columns will serve as the framework that will support the coaster’s track. You’ll get a special look at the columns and the progress Walt Disney Imagineers, Disney cast members and project teams have made in bringing the TRON attraction to life.
In 1982, Disney made filmmaking history with TRON, the first production of its kind to mix live-action with computer-generated visuals and backlit animation. Loved by legions around the world, it went on to inspire video games, comic books, an animated series and the 2010 big-screen sequel, TRON: Legacy.
Are you looking forward to the attraction? Have you had a chance to ride it at Shanghai Disneyland? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
