Final Numbers Show an Even Bigger Avengers: Endgame Opening

-

The final numbers have come in and they show that the Avengers: Endgame opening was even bigger than was estimated! The film ended its record-breaking opening weekend with $357.1 million domestically (revised up from the previous $350 million estimate). Internationally, the movie brought in $866.5 million (up from the $859 million estimate). That means the official global weekend total was $1.224 billion ($1,223.6 million).

The film, which received an A+ CinemaScore from audiences, became the first in history to surpass $1 billion in its opening weekend. It reached the billion-dollar threshold in just five days, more than twice as fast as its predecessor Avengers: Infinity War, which held the record at 11 days.

Seven years after releasing the first film to ever break the $200 million mark in its debut with 2012’s The Avengers, Marvel Studios and The Walt Disney Studios posted the first-ever $300 million+ domestic debut in history with Avengers: Endgame. The previous domestic opening record was set by Avengers: Infinity War last year with $257.7 million).

The film also set the record for widest domestic release ever with 4,662 theaters, surpassing Despicable Me 3‘s 4,529 theaters.

Kevin Feige produces Avengers: Endgame, and Anthony and Joe Russo are the directors. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo, Trinh Tran, Jon Favreau, James Gunn and Stan Lee are the executive producers, and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay.
