Universal Moves Back the Sing 2 and The Croods 2 Release Dates

-

Universal Pictures today announced the studio has pushed back the release dates for two of its upcoming animated sequels. Illumination’s Sing 2 is moving from Friday, December 25, 2020, to Friday, July 2, 2021, taking the place of the currently-dated Untitled Illumination Animated Film.

Also, DreamWorks Animation‘s The Croods 2 will move from Friday, September 18, 2020, to Wednesday, December 23, 2020.

On Independence Day weekend 2021, Buster, Meena, Rosita, Gunter, Johnny and Ash prepare for a bigger stage and a brighter spotlight as they leave the Moon Theater for the big city in Sing 2. From Illumination, the creators of Despicable MeMinions, and The Secret Life of Pets, comes the follow-up to its smash all-audience event film about the transformative power of music.

The next chapter in the blockbuster series from writer/director Garth Jennings welcomes back Academy Award winners Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon, alongside Scarlett Johansson, Taron Egerton, Nick Kroll and Tori Kelly. The returning cast will be joined by soon-to-be announced fellow vocalists lending their talents to characters new to the world of Sing.

In 2013, the world was introduced to the first family of the prehistoric era, The Croods. The Academy Award-nominated comedy about a clan dealing with their changing world captivated global audiences, reminding us of the timeless importance of family… and just how little we’ve evolved.

In December 2020, DreamWorks Animation invites you on an all-new adventure back in time with The Croods 2. Returning stars Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, Cloris Leachman and Clark Duke welcome Leslie Mann and Peter Dinklage to the film’s cast as The Croods face their biggest threat since leaving the cave: another family.
