-

Roadside Attractions and Vertical Entertainment have acquired Jake Scott’s stirring and emotional drama American Woman and will release the film this summer on June 14. It was announced today by Roadside co-founders Howard Cohen and Eric d’Arbeloff and Vertical partners Rich Goldberg and Peter Jarowey. Mill House Motion Pictures and Romulus Entertainment round out the distribution partnership. Endeavor Content is handling the international distribution rights.

Starring Sienna Miller, Christina Hendricks, Aaron Paul, Amy Madigan, Will Sasso, Sky Ferreira, Pat Healy, Alex Neustaedter, E. Roger Mitchell, Kentucker Audley, Aidan McGraw, and Aidan Fiske, the film was directed by Jake Scott (Welcome to the Rileys), written by Brad Ingelsby (Out of the Furnace), and was produced by Ridley Scott, Kevin Walsh, Michael Pruss, and Brad Feinstein. The executive producers are Erika Olde, Shea Kammer, Joseph F. Ingrassia, Ryan Stowell, Jordan Foley, Jonathan Rosenthal and Brad Ingelsby.

Set in rural Pennsylvania, Deb Callahan’s (Miller) life is changed forever when her teenage daughter mysteriously disappears. Deb is left to raise her young grandson and navigate the trials and tribulations of subsequent years, until a long-awaited discovery of the truth is revealed.

“Sienna Miller delivers a triumph of a performance that is the beating heart of this unforgettable film,” Roadside’s d’Arbeloff and Vertical’s Jarowey said in a joint statement. “Her transformation over an 11 year journey during which American Woman unfolds blew us away. Jake Scott has done a magnificent job telling this emotional, layered and complex story while nurturing brilliant performances from an outstanding cast.”

Added Scott: “American Woman is a film about resilience and transformation. It’s a story of one woman’s hope and the capacity she has to change, to forgive and to endure. Sienna’s fearlessness and determination to go deep into this character is revelatory, and we’re all thrilled to be in business with Roadside and for audiences to see the film in theaters this summer.”
