Paramount Pictures has revealed that the upcoming Dora the Explorer movie will be titled Dora and the Lost City of Gold. The first trailer will debut during the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday, March 23, so stay tuned!

Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.

The production, being directed by 11-time Emmy and four-time BAFTA nominee James Bobin (The MuppetsMuppets Most Wanted, Flight of the Conchords), marks the lovable Latina character’s big screen debut (and first live-action adaptation on any platform) after fourteen seasons (2000-2014) and 172 episodes on Nickelodeon. Paramount Pictures, Paramount Players and Nickelodeon Movies present, in association with Walden Media, a Burr! Productions production. Paramount will release the film on August 2, 2019.

The film stars Isabela Moner, Eugenio Derbez, Michael Peña, Eva Longoria, Adriana Barraza, Temuera Morrison, Jeffrey Wahlberg, Nicholas Coombe, Madeleine Madden, and Danny Trejo.

The script was written by Tom Wheeler from a story by Nicholas Stoller and Matthew Robinson. The film is produced by Kristin Burr, who is joined by longtime Bobin associate, executive producer John G. Scotti (The MuppetsMuppets Most WantedAlice Through the Looking Glass) as well as executive producers Julia Pistor (The Spiderwick ChroniclesA Series of Unfortunate Events) and Eugenio Derbez.
