When a hitman is involved, you expect lots of shooting and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, Deadpool 2), Samuel L. Jackson (Glass, Captain Marvel, and the upcoming Shaft and Spider-Man: Far From Home) and Salma Hayek (The Hummingbird Project, Limited Partners, Frida) have reunited for principal photography on Lionsgate and Millennium Media’s The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, the sequel to the 2017 hit comedy action-thriller The Hitman’s Bodyguard.
The film stars Antonio Banderas (Mask of Zorro, Interview with the Vampire, Evita and upcoming Laundromat and Dr. Dolittle) and Academy Award winner Morgan Freeman (Million Dollar Baby, Invictus, Shawshank Redemption). The film also stars Frank Grillo (The Purge franchise, Kingdom, Wheelman) and Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?, How to Get Ahead in Advertising) who makes his return as ‘Seifert’.
Set on the Amalfi coast, the mismatched, high-octane trio are unwillingly pulled onto the side of the good guys as they battle to save Europe from a vengeful and powerful zealot with a dangerously over-developed sense of national pride.
Director Patrick Hughes returns to wrangle the onscreen comic mayhem, with Terry Stacey taking on cinematography and Russell De Rozario as production designer. Filming will take place in London, Croatia and Italy. Lionsgate will release the film in the United States, UK, as well as Latin America.
Matt O’Toole and Les Weldon are producing for Millennium Media alongside Campbell Grobman Films. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, Jeffrey Greenstein and Jonathan Yunger of Millennium along with Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell of Campbell Grobman serve as executive producers.
