Marvel Studios‘ Captain Marvel surpassed the $500 million mark globally on Tuesday! The hit film added $14.6 million domestically and $19.5 million internationally, for a global $34.1 million for the day. That means Captain Marvel has now grossed $179 million in North America and $345.2 million overseas to put its worldwide total at $524.1 million.
The international totals so far include: China ($100.1M); Korea ($26.4M); UK ($19.6M); Brazil ($15.9M); Mexico ($14.7M); Australia ($12.7M); Indonesia ($12.5M); Russia ($12.0M); France ($10.2M); Germany ($9.0M); India ($8.5M); Thailand ($7.3M); and other territories. ($96.2M). The movie will open in Japan on March 15th.
Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.
Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel is directed by the writing/directing team of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. An all-star collective of accomplished writers penned the screenplay, including Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Liz Flahive & Carly Mensch, and Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck.
The film stars Academy Award winner Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, McKenna Grace, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.
Kevin Feige is the producer of Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jonathan Schwartz, Patty Whitcher and Stan Lee are executive producers, with Lars Winther serving as co-producer/first assistant director and David Grant serving as co-producer.
