Nick Jonas will return as Alex Vreeke in Sony Pictures’ upcoming sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, according to Deadline. He joins fellow returning cast members Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Ser’Darius Blain, Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, and Morgan Turner.
Jonas’ character, whose avatar was Jefferson “Seaplane” McDonough, was the fifth player discovered in the game who had been stuck there for 20 years and was living in the hideout created by Robin Williams’ Alan Parrish. Considering we only saw his as a young boy (Mason Guccione) and an older man (Colin Hanks) in the film outside of the game, we’ll have to wait and see if Nick Jonas will only appear as himself in the game again.
The newcomers to the cast include Awkwafina, Danny DeVito and Danny Glover. Character details for the new cast members are being kept under wraps.
Jake Kasdan, who directed the 2017 release that grossed $962.1 million worldwide, is back to direct. The sequel’s script is by Kasdan, Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. Matt Tolmach is producing the feature along with Johnson’s Seven Bucks and Kasdan.
The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel has been set for a December 13, 2019 release.
