Fast & Furious 9 Filming to Begin Next Month

Vin Diesel has given fans two updates on the Fast & Furious franchise. In his first update posted to Instagram, Vin Diesel says that Fast & Furious 9 filming will start in London in February. Again directed by Justin Lin, the ninth installment has been set for an Apr 10, 2020 release. Lin is also directing the 10th installment, which is coming to theaters on April 2, 2021.

In another update, the actor revealed more about the upcoming female Fast & Furious spin-off. “As you know, there are three new spin offs that we have promised Universal,” he said. “Well this week we heard a pitch for the Fast female protagonist driven spinoff I created in 2017, and you can tell by the smile on Samantha’s face it was VERY exciting. Shout out to Nicole Perlman, Lindsey Beer, Geneva Robertson-Dworet. Welcome to the Fast FAMILY…”

Before any of those films hit theaters, we’re getting the first spin-off, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, on August 2, 2019. The film features Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs, Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw, and Idris Elba’s international terrorist leader and criminal mastermind, Brixton. David Leitch (Deadpool 2) is directing the film, also starring Vanessa Kirby as an MI6 agent and Owen and Deckhard’s sister, Eiza González as Madam M, Eddie Marsan, and Ellie Nicole.
