Kevin Hart Advances to Go for the Monopoly Movie

Kevin Hart is set to star in Lionsgate and Hasbro‘s live-action Monopoly movie, according to Deadline. Tim Story, who teamed with the actor on the Think Like a Man and Ride Along movies, as well as his stand-up specials, will direct.

Hart, John Cheng and Carli Haney will produce for Hart’s HartBeat Productions label. Story and Prince of Peoria executive producer Sharla Sumpter Bridgett will produce for The Story Company. Hasbro is co-producing via its Allspark Pictures label with the company’s Brian Goldner, Stephen Davis and Greg Mooradian serving as producers.

Hart can currently be seen in box office hit The Upside and he’ll soon start shooting the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle sequel.

When it was first announced, Lionsgate and Hasbro said that the Monopoly movie will be a film for all ages, visually sumptuous, heartwarming, and full of action and adventure. Back then, the story was going to center on a boy from Baltic Avenue who uses both Chance and Community in a quest to make his fortune, taking him on a fun, adventure-filled journey.

The Monopoly brand is the world’s favorite family gaming brand and an integral part of popular culture today. The game has been played by more than one billion people in 114 countries around the world and has been translated into 47 different languages.
