Sony Pictures has released new Men in Black International photos via Entertainment Weekly, and the magazine also got a chance to talk to the cast and crew about the June 14, 2019 release. So how is this film different from the first three?
Chris Hemsworth sees it as “a sort of reinvention, an opening up of the original franchise that aesthetically is a lot different. Like the geography of this one, we’re not just in New York — we’re in Istanbul, Italy, London.”
“Whereas the original look of Men in Black was sort of set in the 1960s,” production designer Charles Wood adds, “we’re actually taking it back in time and saying that International exists in many cities around the world, and maybe even started a century ago.”
You can view the Men in Black International photos, as well as the EW cover, in the gallery below.
The movie is officially described as follows: “The Men in Black have always protected the Earth from the scum of the universe. In this new adventure, they tackle their biggest, most global threat to date: a mole in the Men in Black organization.”
Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson are reteaming for the film after starring together in Thor: Ragnarok. The cast also includes Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, Laurent Bourgeois, Larry Bourgeois, Emma Thompson, and Liam Neeson.
F. Gary Gray (The Fate of the Furious) is directing the film from a script by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum. Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, who produced the original movies, are back as producers. Steven Spielberg, E. Bennett Walsh, and Barry Sonnenfeld are the executive producers.
