Netflix has debuted the trailer for Kingdom, the Korean zombie action-thriller series launching globally on the streaming service on January 25, 2019.
In a kingdom defeated by corruption and famine, a mysterious plague spreads to turn the infected into monsters. The crown prince, framed for treason and desperate to save his people, sets out on a journey to unveil what evil lurks in the dark.
The eight-episode series, produced by prominent Korean drama production company Astory, is set in Korea’s medieval Joseon period.
Kingdom breaks new ground by combining two popular genres in one series: historical period drama and zombie action thriller. The show is a collaboration between two of Korea’s strongest storytellers – director Kim Seong-hun, whose Tunnel was a top five movie at the Korean box office in 2016; and writer Kim Eun-hee, whose series Signal was one of the top K-dramas in 2016 as well.
It was previously announced that Kingdom has already been renewed for a second season.
