Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Animation’s critically-acclaimed, Golden Globe-nominated and award-winning feature film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse took in $3.5 million for Thursday night previews starting at 5 p.m. in 3,321 locations. The studio is projecting $30 million at the domestic box office for the weekend.
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The LEGO Movie and 21 Jump Street, bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask.
Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, the film’s voice cast includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Lily Tomlin, Kimiko Glenn, John Mulaney, and Nicolas Cage.
