Netflix has shared the trailer for The American Meme, which is available for streaming starting today.
With support from social media moguls DJ Khaled, Hailey Baldwin and Emily Ratajkowski, The American Meme explores the journeys of four distinct social media disruptors, Paris Hilton, Josh Ostrovsky, Brittany Furlan and Kirill Bichutsky, as they hustle to build empires out of their online footprints, redefining the paradigm for the American Dream.
The American Meme premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival and is directed by Bert Marcus. Marcus has produced and financed the transformative feature films Teenage Paparazzo (Sundance 2010 / HBO) and How to Make Money Selling Drugs (Toronto 2012 / Tribeca Films), as well as directed the critically-acclaimed films Champs (Tribeca 2014 / Starz), and What We Started (LAFF 2017, Netflix). Bert also has multiple films in the pipeline, including Ophelia, starring Daisy Ridley and Naomi Watts, which premiered at Sundance 2018.
The film was produced by Bert Marcus and Cassandra Thornton. The executive producers are Paris Hilton, Ben Lyons and Brett Gursky. Also appearing are Kirill Bichutsky, Lele Pons, and Amanda Cerny.
