Although the movie doesn’t hit theaters until December 14th, Sony Pictures Animation is already working on a Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel and a spinoff movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joaquim Dos Santos (Voltron Legendary Defender, Avatar: The Last Airbender) has been hired to direct the Into the Spider-Verse sequel.
Lauren Montgomery, who also worked on Voltron and co-directed Batman: Year One and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse, is also in negotiations to direct an untitled Spider-centric project that will team up the female heroes in the Spider-Man universe of characters in one adventure. Bek Smith (Zoo) will write the script.

Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, the film’s voice cast includes Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Lily Tomlin, Kimiko Glenn, John Mulaney, and Nicolas Cage.
