Netflix announced today that the Dumplin’ launch date has been set for December 7, 2018. The streaming giant has also released the poster and the first photos, which you can all view in the gallery below.
The Dumplin’ Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is now available for pre-order which will instantly include Dolly Parton’s “Girl In The Movies” and her previously-released collaboration with Sia, “Here I Am.” The soundtrack will release on November 30.
Directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses), the film is based on Julie Murphy’s #1 New York Times bestselling novel of the same name. Kristin Hahn wrote the adaptation.
Dumplin’ is the plus-size, teenage daughter of a former beauty queen, who signs up for her mom’s pageant as a protest that escalates when other contestants follow her footsteps, revolutionizing the pageant and their small Texas town.
The cast includes Danielle Macdonald (Bird Box, Skin, Paradise Hills, Patti Cake$), Jennifer Aniston (upcoming Murder Mystery, Horrible Bosses, Marley and Me), Odeya Rush (Lady Bird, Goosebumps), Dove Cameron (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Liv and Maddie, Descendants), Harold Perrineau (Claws, Lost), Bex Taylor-Klaus and Ginger Minj.
The producers are Michael Costigan, Mohamed AlRafi, Kristin Hahn, and Trish Hofmann. The executive producers are Jennifer Aniston and Danny Nozell.
The Dumplin’ movie will include newly-recorded collaborations of Dolly Parton’s classic songs in addition to six new original songs co-written by Parton and Grammy nominee Linda Perry. Special guest vocalists include Sia, Miranda Lambert, Mavis Staples, Elle King, Alison Krauss, Rhonda Vincent, Danielle Macdonald, and Jennifer Aniston.
