Paramount has been developing the post-apocalyptic road movie Monster Problems with Shawn Levy‘s 21 Laps since 2012, but now the studio has finally cast the film’s lead role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dylan O’Brien (American AssassinThe Maze Runner films, Teen Wolf) has signed on to star, with South African director Michael Matthews (Five Fingers for Marseilles) at the helm.

Paramount Players will release the film, which is described as “a Zombieland road pic crossed with the stylings of a John Hughes teen movie, telling the story of a guy who has to survive a monsterpocalypse in order to be with the girl of his dreams.”

Matt Robinson is rewriting the Monster Problems script from a previous draft by Brian Duffield. Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps is producing the movie.
