Wonder Woman and Justice League star Gal Gadot is joining the Kenneth Branagh-directed Death on the Nile, his follow-up to Agatha Christie adaptation Murder on the Orient Express, which grossed $352.8 million worldwide in 2017.

In the book, detective Hercule Poirot embarks on a journey to Egypt in one of Agatha Christie’s most famous mysteries. The tranquility of a cruise along the Nile was shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway had been shot through the head. She was young, stylish, and beautiful. A girl who had everything… until she lost her life.

According to Deadline, Gal Gadot will play Linnet Ridgeway in the December 20, 2019 release. Daily Mail is also reporting that Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) and Armie Hammer are in talks to join, and Tom Bateman will again play Bouc in the new film.

Michael Green, who also adapted Murder on the Orient Express, is the screenwriter. Branagh is producing and Matthew Jenkins is executive producing.

In addition to directing Murder on the Orient Express, Branagh plays detective Hercule Poirot. Academy Award winner Penelope Cruz plays Pilar Estravados, Academy Award nominee Willem Dafoe is Gerhard Hardman, Academy Award winner Judi Dench portrays Princess Dragomiroff, Academy Award nominee Johnny Depp plays Ratchett, Josh Gad appears as Hector MacQueen, Derek Jacobi is Edward Masterman, “Hamilton” star Leslie Odom Jr. plays Dr. Arbuthnot, Academy Award nominee Michelle Pfeiffer portrays Mrs. Hubbard, and Daisy Ridley plays Mary Debenham.
