Lionsgate‘s Summit Entertainment has pushed back the Hellboy release date from January 11, 2019 to April 12, 2019. The other films scheduled for that new date are Universal’s The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, starring Robert Downey Jr., Aviron’s After, and 20th Century Fox’s Breakthrough.

We should also note that Warner Bros. Pictures comic book movie Shazam! is scheduled for just a week before, on April 5th.

The Hellboy cast includes David Harbour (Stranger Things) as the title character, Ian McShane (American GodsDeadwood) as Hellboy’s adoptive father, Professor Trevor Bruttenholm, Milla Jovovich (upcoming Monster Hunter, Resident Evil films) as villain Nimue, aka the Blood Queen, Sasha Lane (American Honey) as Alice Monaghan, Penelope Mitchell (Hemlock Grove) as the elder witch Ganeida, and Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-0, Lost) as Major Ben Daimio.

Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones) is directing from a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and the character’s creator, Mike Mignola. Larry Gordon and Lloyd Levin will produce with Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment.
