Birds of Prey Release Date Set for February 2020

Filming is expected to start in January of 2019

Warner Bros. Pictures and DC have set the Birds of Prey release date for February 7, 2020. The movie will play in both regular and IMAX theaters. The other films scheduled for that date are Sony’s Peter Rabbit 2 and Paramount’s The Loud House. Filming is expected to start in January of 2019.

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad is expected to be joined in Birds of Prey by Black Canary (aka Dinah Laurel), Huntress (aka Helena Bertinelli), Cassandra Cain, and Renee Montoya. Actresses are currently testing for the various roles.

Robbie previously said the film will be “different,” rated R, and made with a “much smaller budget.”

The villain for Birds of Prey is Gotham City mob boss Black Mask. Created by Doug Moench and Tom Mandrake, Black Mask first appeared in Batman #386 in August of 1985. The character is a brutally sadistic kingpin in Gotham City’s criminal underworld who has a fixation with masks.

Cathy Yan will direct the Warner Bros. release from a script by Christina Hodson. Birds of Prey will be produced by Margot Robbie, Kroll & Co Entertainment’s Sue Kroll, and Clubhouse Pictures’ Bryan Unkeless.
