A Wile E. Coyote movie is in development at Warner Bros. Pictures with an interesting twist, according to Deadline. Jon and Josh Silberman, the supervising producers behind CBS’ Living Biblically, have been hired by the studio to write Coyote Vs. ACME.
It’s an interesting title, because one would think the movie would concentrate on Wile E. Coyote going after the Road Runner like in the cartoons. But it seems like the coyote will take revenge on ACME instead. ACME is, of course, the company that makes the gadgets that Wile E. uses to try to catch the Road Runner – and they always fail.
Chris McKay, the director of The LEGO Batman Movie, is producing the film, based on the Looney Tunes characters. The Silberman brothers’ credits also include It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Bordertown, Deadbeat, Good Vibes, and Free Agents.
Wile E. is a “super genius.” But for all his brilliant plans, he’s just a coyote with a crazy hunger for Road Runner. Wile E. is the ACME company’s best customer, but their rocket skates, catapults, and giant slingshots always backfire.
Road Runner is a happy bird who can’t fly but travels desert highways like a bullet train. He’s innocent and carefree. With long legs, graceful tail feathers, and a cheery “Meep-meep!” he’s always way ahead of Wile E. Coyote.
