Guy Pearce is in talks to replace Michael Sheen in Bloodshot, according to Variety. The trade says that Sheen was forced to leave the film due to scheduling. Just yesterday, Vin Diesel had announced that production had begun in Cape Town, South Africa.
Starring Vin Diesel, Sony Pictures’ adaptation of the Valiant Comics title is set for a release on February 21, 2020. Directed by Dave Wilson, the film will also star Toby Kebbell, Sam Heughan, Eiza Gonzalez, Talulah Riley, Alex Hernandez, Lamorne Morris, and Johannes Haukur Johannesson.
Bloodshot is a former soldier with powers of regeneration, technomancy and meta-morphing made possible through nanites injected into his blood. After escaping from his masters at Project Rising Spirit, Bloodshot seeks to discover his true identity and other purpose besides killing.
The character was created in 1992 for Valiant Comics by Kevin VanHook, Bob Layton and Don Perlin. The script for Bloodshot was written by Academy Award-nominated writer Eric Heisserer (Arrival, The Thing).
Cross Creek Pictures is producing the movie with Neal H. Moritz as producer. Dan Mintz is serving as executive producer.
