Gina Prince-Bythewood to Direct Comic Book Adaptation The Old Guard

With Sony Pictures‘ having pulled the Silver and Black comic book adaptation off of their release schedule recently, director Gina Prince-Bythewood has now moved on to another comic book movie titled The Old Guard. The Skydance Media production will based on the comic book series created by author Greg Rucka and illustrator Leandro Fernández, with Rucka writing the script.

The Old Guard is the story of old soldiers who never die… and yet cannot seem to fade away. Trapped in an immortality without explanation, Andromache of Scythia – ‘Andy’ – and her comrades ply their trade for those who can find-and afford-their services. But in the 21st century, immortality is a hard secret to keep, and when you live long enough, you learn that there are many fates worse than death.

Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will produce the female-led action drama, expected to hit theaters in 2019.

Prince-Bythewood’s credits include Love & BasketballThe Secret Life of Bees, and Beyond the Lights. She also directed the pilot for Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and the event series Shots Fired.
