Keri Russell (The Americans) is reuniting with J.J. Abrams on Star Wars: Episode IX, according to Variety. The two previously worked together on Felicity and Mission: Impossible III.
While it is unknown who she will be playing, the site says that “the role calls for action-heavy fight scenes.”
Variety adds that Abrams will likely cast two more actors by the time filming begins at the end of month. Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac are all returning for the anticipated movie.
J.J. Abrams, who launched a new era of Star Wars with The Force Awakens in 2015, is returning to complete the sequel trilogy as writer and director of Star Wars: Episode IX. Star Wars: Episode IX will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Abrams, Bad Robot, and Lucasfilm.
Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.
